Julia Spiri Challenge DT Post- Anything Goes/ Song/Book or Movie

This week at Julia Spiri Challenge Blog the challenge theme is Anything Goes with a twist of anything that reminds you of a film, book or song.

The second I saw her fabulous digi The Cake Hat there was just one thing that sprung to mind- Alice in Wonderland! I opted to make a quirky birthday card with a Mad Hatters tea party theme and I was chuffed when I found some charms to embellish it perfectly. The sentiment stamp is by Visible Image and definitely seemed apt for this one.

You don't have to use a Julia Spiri image to play along, but we love it when you do. If you love her digis why not also follow her Facebook fan page. You can share your creations there as well as keep up to date with all the news and gossip.

It's a Boy! by Julia Spiri

Happy Easter! You would think I am here today to share a cute Easter bunny card but no, as I'm simply not that organised and haven't made any- oops! However, Easter is about new beginnings, so a new baby card isn't a bad second.

I have used the very cute It's a Boy! by Julia Spiri, coloured in copics and promarkers.

The sentiment is cut on my cameo, and all the other elements were from my stash.

Baby Bump Art by Karleigh Sue

I have exciting news! As you may know I have been on the Karleigh Sue challenge team since the start, but I have now been invited to join the inspiration team too! So there will be even more Karleigh Sue posts on my blog now- yay!!

Today, as my first inspiration post,  I am sharing with you my take on Baby Bump Art.

I coloured this cutie with a combination of Copics and Promarkers. Unfortunately I can't share the colours I used as I coloured her up ages ago and didn't make a note (doh!), but she only made her way to a card today. I promise to do better next time!!

I kept the card simple, stamping a sentiment with alphabet stamps from Avery Elle and cutting an easel shape out of scrap card. I added some teeny little feet from my buttons box and a congrats banner to finish it off.

Have a great Easter weekend

Gabbi Frangipani Merfae by Faery Ink

Normally it takes me ages to get around to colouring digis that are kindly shared for free by some artists, but as soon as I saw this one day giveaway by Faery Ink I just had to put everything else on hold and get her coloured as I love her so much!

I coloured her with a combination of Copics and Promarkers, and created the background using a technique I learned from the great colouring classes at Kit and Clowder. If you want to improve your colouring skills then I recommend these classes so much. They have helped my confidence grow massively where my colouring is concerned.

I created most of the embellishments myself using my melt pot. I haven't had that out for a long time so it was fun to play again. To make her really sparkle I went over her tail and wings with a clear Wink of Stella pen. I teamed her with some sea themed papers from my stash and a few stickers and gems. The sentiment is a stamp I got free in a magazine.

The Fantasy Hat by Julia Spiri

Wow I seem to be on a roll this weekend as here's another card I have made. I do love a good crafty weekend. It's good for the soul!

This one uses The Fantasy Hat by Julia Spiri. The hat collection just blows me away. I love it! I really like steampunk so couldn't wait to colour this. She is coloured in copics and the paper are from Graphic 45.

Right, I think that's the last one for the weekend. It's time to go and chill with my family over a nice roast dinner and then watch The Voice.

Have a great week

Embrace the Ocean by Ching-Chou Kuik

Today I have had the best time at my craft table playing with this beauty by Ching-Chou Kuik. She's called Embrace the Ocean and you can find her here

Firstly I coloured her with Clean Color markers ( my new addiction!). My daughter thinks the coloured skin is a bit freaky but I really like the effect. The papers were made with acrylic paint and masks on my gelli plate. I made them ages ago and couldn't find a use for them, but like a true crafter I never throw anything away as you just never know when you will need it, and today was that day!

I embellished with gems, fluffy ribbon and beads from my stash and added a stamped sentiment using an Inkyliscious stamp. All in all I think she came together rather well!

The Butterfly Hat by Julia Spiri

I am still really loving the Hat Collection by Julia Spiri and yesterday I made a couple more cards with my favourites. The first I would like to share this morning is The Butterfly Hat. Isn't it amazing?! The attention to detail is just fabulous. I love the Spring flowers- so pretty!

I coloured her with Clean Color pens and kept my card very simple, just framing her with lace and mounting on a pretty Spring themed paper.

If you love Julia's images why not join her Facebook page. It would be lovely to see you there and see your creations.

Exotic Beauty by MoonFlower

Good morning! I have a busy day today but first I wanted to stop by and share a card I have made using the new digi Exotic Beauty by MoonFlower. I just love her! She's so pretty and pefect in every way and was great fun to colour. I used my new Clean Color markers and I am quite pleased with how she turned out as they are so different to alcohol markers that they are taking a bit of getting used to.

The papers are from the Dovecraft Bohemian range. And the flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Julia Spiri 'Paris' Challenge DT Post

Good morning! The sun is shining, it's a beautiful Spring day and there's no better time to start thinking of far away places and taking a break. Todays new challenge over at Julia Spiri Challenge Blog has had me doing just that as this time the theme is Anything Goes with an Optionl Twist of Paris.

I used Cafe In Paris for my card. This digi also comes with optional elements you can use for embellishments so is a real bargain! I used Paris related paper from my stash and some charms that also linked in nicely.

You don't have to use a Julia Spiri image to enter but we love it when you do of course. You can also follow her Facebook Fan Page to keep up to date with new releases and share your work.

Gina Steampunk by MoonFlower

Today I am sharing a card made with Gina Steampunk by MoonFlower. I love steampunk so had lots of fun creating this easel card.

The papers are from Graphic 45 and Hunkydory, and I created the embossed part myself with a folder and some gilding wax to make it pop. I love embossing this way, it really makes a card stand out I think and even on a 'clean' card I can't resist a bit of messy playing!  The cogs are die cut from coordinating Graphic 45 paper and inked with distress ink.

It's time for another challenge at Not Just Cards and as always the theme is Anything Goes. This month we are being sponsored by MoonFlower and I have chosen to work with Ashlee Toad Fairy. She's so cute!

I kept my card simple, nestling her among some flowers on a bold floral paper. and just adding a few simple embellishments.

Happy Mothers Day!

It's Mother's Day here in the UK today, and I've woken up full of the joys of Spring and very much looking forward to a nice day out in the sunshine with my mum and some of my family later, so I thought I'd pop by now and share the card that I made for her ( she doesn't blog so I know I am safe and she won't see it early!).

I absolutely adore the new Hat Collection by Julia Spiri, and The Butterfly Hat was a perfect choice for my nature loving Mum. I coloured her with Clean Color water pens, and it's hard to see from the photo but I used a Wink of Stella pen to give some of the flowers a touch of sparkle. The backing paper is from the Spring Drop range by First Edition, and the flowers are a selection from my stash. I really love how this came together and hope my mum does too!

If you love Julia's images as much as I do then why not join her Facebook page where you can keep up to date with new releases, and share your work. She also has a challenge blog if you are a crafter who enjoys challenges.

Extraterrestrial by Karleigh Sue

Good morning! Just popping online to share this card I made using the fab Extraterrestrial digi by Karleigh Sue. I had so much fun creating the background for this using a technique with alcohol inks that I learned recently in an online colouring class by Kit and Clowder. I kept the card simple, just adding a sentiment stamp, which is from one of my favourite companies, Visible Image

Julia Spiri- Anything Goes with a Twist of Anything But A Card DT Post

It's time for the first challenge of the month over at Julia Spiri Challenge Blog and as always the theme is anything goes with a twist, the twist this time being anything but a card.

I have recently started dipping my toes in the world of art journalling so decided to have a go at a page using the oh so chic Fashion In Paris digi from the Paris collection. This image is a total bargain as also comes with several free mini digital images that you can use to create embellishments for your projects with.

This page was all about exploring new things for me. I spent my Saturday enjoying a good spend up at the Make It craft exhibition in Farborough and couldn't wait to use my new goodies on my page! After watching a demo with Clean Color water based markers I had to buy a set ( well, actually my amazing mum bought them for me as an early birthday gift- thanks mum!), and I used them to colour this image. The colours are so vibrant, I love them! Another new medium that I tried was gelatos, which I used on my background. I think I need a lot more play time with these to find out all that they can do, but I enjoyed my first go very much. The sentiment stamp is another recent purchase, from Visible Image

I hope this has inspired you to join in the challenge this time. Don't forget you can also join our Facebook Fan Page and share your work there and keep up to date with all the latest news and giveaways. We'd love to see you there!

Happy crafting!
