Let the Purple Rain by Karleigh Sue

Ok so I was only going to post one project today, but I have been feeling creatively inspired , so have been busy at my craft table, bopping along to the greatest hits of Prince on my ipod, still feeling a little shocked about the sad news of his death earlier this week. He was a total icon, and his music never fails to make me smile, bringing back many memories of my teenage years.

Cheri has drawn her own tribute image to the legend, called  Let the Purple Rain and I didn't feel a card was the right project for this, so decided to do a page in my art journal in tribute.

I had no idea exactly how I wanted it to evolve, but I did have an idea of the supplies I wanted to use!

Various masks and music note stamps

Paints ( purple of course!), inks and texture paste for dimension.

Copics and gel pans to colour the main image

I set to work, splodging paint and paste around and it all started to come together on it's own. I'm not a crafter who sees a project in my head before I make it, so my process can be a bit random to say the least at times! I printed some rather appropriate lyrics from his hit 'Let's Go Crazy' and added them to the finished page, along with a white die cut dove, which I added a little teardrop to.

I do hope he is resting peacefully in the world of never ending happiness of which he spoke.

Thanks for the music and memories Prince.

Sleep tight

Lolita by Karleigh Sue

Happy Sunday morning folks! I just woke up with that sinking feeling that it was Monday, then as I came to realised it wasn't and it's just my poor husband that has to work today, and my day is totally free. Yay!! That can only mean one thing- a day at the craft table ( just as soon as I have had coffee and walked my dogs that is).

Before I do any of that though, here's a card I have made using Lolita by Cheri Shull of Karleigh Sue. I think I must have had the queens birthday in mind as I inadvertantly coloured her in the colours of the Union Jack ( with copics of course).

I am on a scrap using mission still, so kept this card simple using some leftover odds and ends of card stock I had to hand and creating simple embellishments with a balloon die and stamping the sentiment on them.

April New Release for Julia Spiri

As you all know I am a proud DT member for Julia Spiri and up until now I have always been on the team for the challenge blog ( if you haven't entered the current challenge go check it out by the way!). This month sees my first post as a member of the new release team and I can't begin to say how thrilled I am to be working with some incredibly talented crafters!

This new release is all about weddings, and wow, the images are amazing! You can find them all in the shop here.

Here's what I have made for you:

First up is a delicate wedding card. To create this I imported the Wedding Day digi into Craft Artist, along with some elements from the clip art set Peonies and Ranunculus and arranged them on my page with a soft grey background and sentiment before printing out, then I hand coloured the image and added some stickles to the veil to add a little sparkle. I just love the simplicity of it and think it looks really classy.

Challenges:

For my second project I have used the Peonies and Ranunculus set again, and once more played with it in craft artist to create a totally digital anniversary card.

Challenges:

For my final project I have created a digital scrapbook page, using Watercolour Poppies clip art set. I love this photo of my daughters together, taken just before their first joint  Remembrance Sunday Parade for the Scouts. I am so very proud of them for their understanding and appreciation for the soldiers that fell for us and their willingness to make their own sacrifice of giving up their precious free time to remember and honour them. They really are great kids ( and yes I know I am biased lol!)

Thanks for stopping by to check out my take on the new releases. Do check out the blog and see what the rest of my team mates have made.

Oh, and you can also join in the fun on our Facebook page if you would like to. We love to see what you have been making with Julias images.

Bye for now!

Gina Caribe by MoonFlower

Hiya peeps! It's time for me to share another project for MoonFlower and this time I have used the new release Gina Caribe. Isn't she just perfect for Summer cards. I loved colouring her, and for me the skin was a challenge as I rarely do darker tones so I am very happy with how she turned out.

The sentiment is a scrapbooking panel which seemed to fit her vibe perfectly.

MoonFlower will shortly just be sticking with the Etsy digi store, but until then you can grab some stunning digis at discounted rates here in the old store, but hurry as they won't be there long! And when you do you can share your gorgeous creations with us over on the Facebook fan page. We'd love to see them!

Karleigh Sue April Inspiration Post

Sharing a little inspiration today for Karleigh Sue, using Poodle Skirt. Perfect for those diner and milkshake loving teens!

I have coloured her with Copics. I rarely use blue and yellow but fancied a change from pink tones. I think it really suits her.

The paper is one I have had in my stash for ages, and the embellishments are buttons with the loops filed off the back.

If you aren't a member already then why not pop across to the Karleigh Sue Coloring Queen-dom on Facebook. We are currently running a tag challenge and would love to see more people entering ( find it here) You don't have to just share your Karleigh Sue images there, all artists are welcome, we just love to see your colouring!

Julia Spiri Anything Goes With A Twist of Decorate a Bag Challenge

Good morning! Today I am sharing my DT project for the new challenge at Julia Spiri. As always the theme is Anything Goes, with an optional twist, and this time that twist is decorate a bag.

I have chosen to make a little gift bag for a baby girl, using It's a Girl! The bag was cut on my cameo, and I coloured the image with copics and embellished with a little gem and bunting from my stash.

You don't have to use a Julia Spiri image to enter, but of course we love it when you do, so do check out the Etsy store if you feel like treating yourself to some new images to play with. You can also share your work with us on her Facebook page. We love to see your creations.

Not Just Cards April Challenge DT Post

It's time for the April challenge over at Not Just Cards and as always the theme is Anything Goes. I'm sad to say that this is my last post as part of the design team. I've had a blast but now it's time to step down and let somebody else join in the fun while I concentrate on my other DT duties elsewhere.

This month our sponsor is the awesome Karleigh Sue

I have used Fancy Occasion, coloured with copics, mounted on co ordinating papers from my stash, with added embellishments, keeping my card fairly simple.

We'd love to see your entries so do play along if you can. You don't have to make a card, but cards are welcome too.

Happy crafting!

The Spring Flowers by Julia Spiri

Have you seen the new Spring Flowers Collection by Julia Spiri yet? They are absolutely perfect for cards for all occasions at this time of year and so delicate and beautiful to colour!

On today's card I have used The Spring Flowers. I wanted a watercolour effect on her so coloured her with Clean Color markers.

The embossing folder and sentiment  is this months free gift with Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine. I have added detail using distress ink. Down by ow local lakes the bluebells are out, and the dragonflies are flitting around, so I couldn't resist adding a colourful dragonfly on my card, die cut and stamped.

Do check out Julia's Facebook page and Challenge Blog too by the way. Loads of fun happening on both regularly!

Gypsy Flower by MoonFlower

Today I am sharing a card with what is quite possibly my favourite ever digi- the gorgeous Gypsy Flower by MoonFlower. I just adore her delicate features. She looks so wistful!

She is coloured in copics, and the backing paper is from a pad I purchased in Lidl. The rose was a stamp and die Altenew set that came in a recent magazine as a free gift.

Birthday Surprise by Karleigh Sue

Good afternoon! Just stopping by to share a card I have made this weekend for Karleigh Sue, featuring Birthday Surprise. Isn't she just perfect for those male cards we all struggle with?! Who wouldn't want to party with her!!

She is coloured with copics, and mounted on some fun papers I have had in my stash for ages. I'm on a mission to use up my scraps as they are taking over, so I die cut some balloons out of card bits to embellish with. The sentiment is an Avery Elle stamp set.

If you haven't joined Karleigh Sue's facebook page yet do pop over and say hello. You can share ALL of your colouring there- it's not restricted to Karleigh Sue images. So if you love to colour and chat on Facebook click here and join us in the Queen-dom.

Lucky Lady by Karleigh Sue

Stopping by tonight with another quick card using a Karleigh Sue image!

I have used Lucky Lady 2016 and you can find her here. This card was inspired by a song and in case you can't guess, my song inspiration is the very catchy Get Lucky by Daft Punk, one of my ten year old's favourite songs to sing along to ( bet you're singing along in your head too now!)

If you love colouring do come over to the Karleigh Sue Facebook page Coloring - Queen-dom . We love to chat about  colouring of any kind and all images  hand coloured are welcome to be shared there, even by other artists. It's a great art community!
